Auto Insurance

Don’t forget to shop for insurance

Customers sometimes forget to factor in the cost of insurance when they get an auto loan. Insurance is an important component of your total costs and should be considered. Don’t forget this critical piece.

If you know what kind of car you want there are a number of insurance company websites, like lowestrates.ca and rates.ca, that can be useful for initial estimates and to compare rates.

Keep your insurance up-to-date

All auto loans require proof of insurance. This includes proof of named insured and minimum deductibles and coverages.  Your loan documents will outline the requirements.

Insurance policies must renew every year and all lenders, including Source One Financial, require updated proof of insurance each year.  Some insurance companies proactively send us this information however customers cannot rely on this.

Every year, you need to make sure this information is updated with us.

Send us your updates by email myinsurance@sourceonefinancial.ca with:

• full name (first, middle, last)
• telephone number
• loan number
• scanned copy or photo of your insurance policy details (see Step 1 and 2)

STEP 1:
Gather the required policy documents, including:

  • insurance company name
  • policy number
  • coverage limit
  • expiration dates
  • policy holders’ names

As per the contract Source One Financial must be named as the lien holders and maintain full coverage for the duration of the loan with Source One Financial.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience but a temporary liability slip or pink insurance slip is not an acceptable form of updating the insurance policy.

STEP 2:
Email a scanned copy or photo of your vehicle insurance policy information to myinsurance@sourceonefinancial.ca

Please include your full name(s) on the vehicle loan. Different provinces require different insurance documents.
